Boys and Girls Club of Metro Denver, a Review

Stacy Schwebach
This is my opinion on what everyone should know about a great organization. The Boys and Girls Club is a nationwide organization, but unfortunately it is not in every city. The funding is 100% donation and fee based. This organization can have a bad rap by those that do not know what it is all about.

I know most of us out there think this club is for the troubled youth, but this is not a true perception. This club keeps the youth out of the trouble. The club keeps kids from 6 to 18, has school hours and most of the time when the schools are not open they are open to help parents out. They do have a yearly fee, but it beats the weekly daycare that most of us have to pay of hundreds of dollars. The Boys and Girls club is strictly a positive place for kids to be. Now you can't expect the staff to make sure that your kid gets their homework done as the club places responsibility on the student themselves. They offer so many different options that a child is never bored. Most clubs unless they are school based even offer sports, which is a great thing because if you are like me most sports are so expensive you have to sell your plasma for your kid to get in and they are so competitive that you're not guaranteed to see your kid play. Well not in the Boys and Girls club. They make sure that when the children are too old to play for them anymore that they are walking away with the fundamentals of the game and are successful in the knowledge they need to play for their school.

My family was referred to the club because my oldest so was too much for my daughter to handle. Not knowing what I know now I was unsure about it. We enrolled the kids for the summer and when the summer was over we thought we were done, then we were told about the sports program and so football started, and well as they say the rest is history. My son has done a complete 180 as he is constantly playing sports with the club, both boys and my daughter tried basketball, but soccer is her sport. My husband now coaches football, basketball and I coach soccer and will teach my husband to coach soccer. The club is our family now and we wouldn't change it for anything. I even plan every sport banquet for them, I think I am going to take up cake decorating as I used to do that and buying that big of a cake is getting expensive.

So from one mom to another, if you need somewhere for your child to go, check it out. The Boys and Girls club no matter where you live is a positive place I have seen them all in the Denver Metro area and all staff are great!!!!

Go Spartans!!!!
