BP Oil Spill Capped Off

After 3 months of oil spilling into our oceans BP has finally managed to cap off the oil well and salvage what remains of our oceans. This was not an easy task to accomplish after the Deepwater Horizons oil rigs explosion. This was all due to the use of current technology. 20 years ago we couldn't even have built a cap of this magnitude, let alone managed to get a cap of that size and weight to the well. Today BP CEOs let out a sigh of relief.

The BP oil spill cleanup is not going to be so easy.

Although the efforts of cleanup aren't finished yet, they are coming closer to an end. There is more still to be done with the BP oil spill, this spill has devastated communities in large near, and around the Gulf Of Mexico.

No technology available for quick oil spill cleanup.

The lack of technology means for months to come, maybe even years, there will continue to be fishing vessels in the GOM running booms with oil sopping clothe on them. These booms have to be manually run across the waters surface to clean up the surfacing oil. Many people will likely continue to scrub the beach rocks by hand as well, as the oil surfaces on land in Florida, Alabama, and many other states in the area.

Until all the surfaced oil is cleaned up fishing in these regions will be a thing of the past . Oil is a known carcinogen, the food from these contaminated waters is unreliable at best and should be approached with caution.

There is a lesson to be learned in this. Never trust the oil companies, and start looking for better technology to prevent such a disaster from ever occurring again. This disaster was a direct result of the demand for oil, and the oil companies determination to supply that demand.

A large percent of current technology depends on oil in some way, from the plastics that we use, to the gasoline in our cars. This puts a considerable demand on companies like BP to produce the required energy source, and as such we, in part, are all to be held accountable for such a disaster.

There are technologies available today that have the potential to completely replace companies like BP. These are cleaner energies and it's our duty to seek out these technologies, and implement them into our daily lives as soon as possible, before it's too late. Though it may be inconvenient to modify our energy usage in such a way, it's an obvious necessity as shown by our current dilemma.
