Brach's Milk-Maid Caramel Apple Candy Corn comes in a clear, square lidded container, which is nice for storage and lets you see the red and light brown candy corn inside. (I thought mimicking the color of apples and caramel was a cute way to differentiate it from classic candy corn.) On top is a bright red and yellow sticker with the logos for Brach's and for Milk-Maid, but the packaging is pretty minimal. They decided to let the product be the star of the show here. And it deserves to be. Brach's Milk-Maid Caramel Apple Candy Corn is really good!
It's not often that a product improves on a classic, but Brach's Milk-Maid Caramel Apple Candy Corn does just that. While it still tastes like candy corn, the red pointy end really does taste like apple, and the light brown flat end really does taste like caramel. It's a great taste combination. (Though I also like to nibble each end to taste the individual flavors.)
The sticker on top also gives nutrition facts and the ingredient list. This is one of those little holiday indulgences that you don't really expect any nutritional value from. Therefore, I was surprised to read that one serving of Brach's Milk-Maid Caramel Apple Candy Corn has 15 percent of my daily recommended value of calcium! Not bad for candy!
A serving of Brach's Milk-Maid Caramel Apple Candy Corn is twenty two pieces. And at a sizable 140 calories you may want to count them out before you dive in, because this is one of those little munchies that you can easily overdo. (My thinking tends to go something like; "They're small. What harm could another 6 or 7 do?") But at least there isn't any fat. (Though I'm, sure those 32 grams of sugar and that 12 percent of my daily recommended allowance of carbohydrates could be easily converted into something I'll have to run off later.)
For a holiday treat, Brach's Milk-Maid Caramel Apple Candy Corn was a big winner with my family. And while I don't think Brach's Milk-Maid Caramel Apple Candy Corn will drive traditional candy corn off the market, I really hope it makes an annual appearance too. I highly recommend Brach's Milk-Maid Caramel Apple Candy Corn. And as it isn't likely to stick around for much longer this year, you may want to try them soon!
Enjoy!
