Brad Pitt Calls Foul on British Tabloid

Brad Pitt is denouncing a British tabloid reporter who claims to have had a brief conversation with the matinée idol. Earlier this week, British Mail's J. Randy Taraborrelli wrote that he ran into Pitt at the Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood.

The tabloid reported claims to have encountered Pitt while he was sipping a beer in the hotel bar. Taraborrelli wrote:

You know what it's like to be on the cover of every magazine, having your personal life
dissected with all the lies, all the rubbish?" he asks me. He takes a swig from a bottle of beer
and says: "It's hell. Certainly, pick on me - but why pick on Angelina? That's so low. She's such
an amazing woman - like Supergirl, in every way."

Taraborrelli also wrote that Pitt apologized for taking his frustration on Taraborrelli out during their short conversation.

Pitt's team denounced the story saying the incident never happened. They call attention to the fact that Pitt would not use brit-speak like "rubbish" and that Pitt would never be drinking in the hotel bar alone. The rep also says that Pitt never referred to Angelina Jolie as "supergirl."

The article includes details an interview with a Pitt associate named Jim Cruse. Cruse casts a disparaging light on the couple's family life. "Brad always said he wanted a family. But you should be careful what you ask for. He got four kids in two years, all under the age of six. It's no picnic."

Cruse is said to have known Pitt for "years".

TMZ has tried repeatedly to contact Taraborrelli. He had not returned any calls at press time.

Rumors about the pair range for an imminent break up to an imminent marriage. The couple has most recently been seen walking arm arm after a business meeting and dropping two of their children off at daycare.

Media attention around the superstar couple has reached such a frenzy that their oldest son, Maddox, has to enter and leave school through a back door.

Jolie and Pitt recently adopted three-year-old Pax Thien from Vietnam. Cambodian-born Maddox was adopted in 2002 and Ethiopian-born Zahara in 2005. The couple's youngest child was born in May of 2005.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie met on the set on the blockbuster Mr. And Mrs. Smith while Pitt was still married to Angelina Jolie. Jolie has said they were strictly friends until Pitt was single.
