According to E! Online former child star Brad Renfro was pronounced dead at 9 a.m. this morning in his California home by paramedics. The cause of Brads death is not known at this time, however an autopsy may be performed as early as tomorrow.

Brad Renfro, known for his reported drug abuse and legal troubles, was working hard on his sobriety, however according to the Coroner's Office chief investigator Craig Harvey Renfro had been drinking alcohol the previous evening. At this time it is too soon to tell whether that was a factor in his death.

Renfro was most famous for his breakout role at the age of twelve in "The Client" starring Susan Sarandon and Tommy Lee Jones. He also starred in films such as 2002's "Deuces Wild," The Indie sensation, "Ghost World," and "The Jacket" with Adrien Brody.

He has a series of legal troubles including an incident in August of 2000 where he was arrested in Fort Lauderdale on a charge of Grand theft for allegedly attempting to steal a yacht with a companion. He didn't untie the boat before taking off and caused damage to both the yacht and the boat. Renfro was sentenced to two years probation and a fined $4000.

His most recent arrest took place on December 23, 2005 during a drug sting operation in the skid row section of Los Angeles while allegedly trying to buy heroin from an undercover officer.

Renfro appeared to finally be on the track to sobriety. Renfro had just wrapped up the filming of his latest project, "The Informers" based on a book by Bret Easton Ellis. "The Informers" also stars Wyonna Ryder, Billy Bob Thorton, and Mickey Rourke.

Renfro will be missed.
