Brainwashing the Youth of America

Educating the Youth of America

At first I thought I would talk about the president's speech to the school children, but I thought about it and came to the conclusion there was nothing else left to say, or was there. We had seen and heard it all. We had seen the mother crying about her young daughter who looked all of about 4 or 5 years of age being brained washed by the president. Having had children who were at one time that age, I can truly say that nothing really held their attention at that age, but Sesame Street or some movie. They each enjoyed Sunday school, vacation bible school, clubs and such, but in each of these activities their little minds would began to wonder if you heaven forbid just talked to them. They like so many other children needed action, singing, colors and much more-not someone just talking to them.

From the very first day of school children learn the Pledge of Allegiance. They are just reciting words when they first hear it, but as they mature, they find the meaning in those few words. Some will take the words to heart and love and even fight to protect our country. I don't think they are being brainwashed, they are being patriotic.

Stories are read to students when they enter school and by their parents before then. Who can forget Charlotte's Web with the talking pig? Children somehow figured out that pigs and spiders do not talk. Somehow we failed to brainwash them with fairy tales of castles, knights with shinny armor, pigs talking/dancing, kisses that wake the beautiful princess from a coma. Were we all brainwashed to think that we could become the beautiful princess or handsome prince in the fairy tale? Was it a bad thing? We grew up fast enough to know that the fairy tales were only make believe. Our parents told us each and every day to clean our room yet somehow that brainwashing did not stick with most.

I think the crying lady should take my mother's advice. She would always tell us "If you just sit there and be quiet, you might learn something." A high school students' impression of the speech was as most children, the high school student said, "He told us what we hear every day from teachers and parents." Next time the president decides to brainwash our children he might take on drugs and teenage pregnancy. I hope the crying lady took the time to listen-she just might have learned something.
