Brand Name Vs. Wal-Mart Sheets

Cee Belair
Last Christmas, I became the proud owner of a new set of $300 sheets from my dear husband. Little did I know at the time, the amount of money spent! It only took two months for me to hear that news. It's a good thing for his sake too, because they would have been instantly returned, only to make myself look like a scrooge at Christmastime.

Let me tell you, friends don't let friends buy expensive sheets.

Is there a difference between thread counts? I should've saved the package they came in, but I didn't realize that I should have at the time. He claims they are "such and such" a thread count, it's some big number! He knows as much about sheets as I do... But I do know the ones at Wal-Mart are cheaper! Never send your husband out Christmas shopping with a friend, by the way. At least not a friend that has deep pockets and claims to be a bedding expert.

Now I've watched the movies, I'm sure you have all seen them, where the rich family is shown lying in bed, and I dream of having a showcase bedroom set where I can just lie down and feel the softness! Pillows galore, sheets and blankets that make you want to reach into the television and grab them for yourself. I'm thinking this was the effect dear husband was looking to have. However, after trying them out for myself, I cannot notice a difference. Sure, my bed looks wonderful, but when my head hits the pillow, I could be sleeping on concrete and not notice the difference. Is it worth going in hock for $300 sheets? I would say no, with my apologies to Martha Stewart.

Take my advice, and unless you are a bedding expert and can counsel better than I, hit Wal-Mart and pick up the $50 sheet set. They have better colors to choose from and your bed will still look just as good. Your mattress won't know the difference, and if you're like me, you won't either!

I'm thankful to hit the sack every evening, and I'm sure most of the people reading this like a little sleep occasionally too. If your sheets are clean, your bed can be just as refreshing as any rich person's on the television. I can think of much better places to invest that money! I'm sure you can too!
