A friend bought an iPod and he's not very technically experienced (he doesn't own a computer) so I offered to help. I put all of his music on the iPod he owns and he's happy with that. He travels a lot so he's always in an airport or on a plane. What I think is interesting is that he spent nearly $400 and doesn't even know how to put songs on it. Why did he pay for a device that he has no idea how to use? My first thought "popularity". Everywhere you go everything has an " I " in the prefix. You can buy an iPod to use with your iCouch or iShower caddy. It's amazing how Apple has created such a huge marketplace wrapped around one individual product. I honestly cannot think of another product that has such wide appeal.
So many companies are building products to fit this brand even though there are other mp3 player options on the market. Car companies are building iPod docks into vehicles. Even schools are starting to introduce iPods as a learning device to upload what's called pod cast lectures. There is so much pod branding that nearly every household will someday probably own an iPod. The iPod has turned into a consumer necessity that I would compare to the average wrist watch. When people get dressed in the morning and prepare to leave home for the day they don't forget the cell phone, wallet, car keys and of course their iPod's. Many people don't even realize that you can buy another brand of mp3 player with the same storage capacity as an iPod for possibly less money. The brand is strong and what Apple has done with the iPod they have done very well. I just think it's an amazing product with so much buzz. Now here comes the iPhone which of course at this time I have no plans to purchase but others have no problem shelling out the cash to have this new high tech gadget. Don't forget most people really just need a phone to make a call...
Apple wants to rule your media mind and it's working...
I can't wait to see all the new products that will be introduced to be used with the iPhone.
