Brandon Marshall in Practice Video is Another Ungrateful Sports Star

Brandon Marshall Gets Suspended

As much as we admire professional football players for their strength and their ability to play the game, it's hard to do so when they exhibit unprofessional behavior. Brandon Marshall, the 25 year old wide receiver of the Denver Broncos, has decided to act like a spoiled brat, as recently revealed in a Brandon Marshall practice video.

So bad has his behavior been, some of which can be seen in the video, that Brandon Marshall has been suspended. The video of the bad behavior was released at TheDenverChannel.com of Channel 7 News.

As seen on the video, Brandon Marshall deliberately refuses to join in with his hard working teammates, walking instead of running and punting a ball instead of simply handing it off. The video is not becoming, but it is not surprising for a player that has been in trouble before in other ways. Back in 2007, for example, Brandon Marshall was in trouble for domestic violence, which led Marshall to anger management counseling.

From the Denver Broncos website, Josh McDaniels, the new head coach of the Denver Broncos, said in a press conference that the Denver Broncos have tried to handle the Brandon Marshall suspended issue "as privately and professionally as we could." The suspension of Brandon Marshall, McDaniels reports, will last until September 5.

Perhaps Brandon Marshall will take that time to reflect on his poor behavior in the Brandon Marshall practice video and consider what it means to be an outstanding football player? The suspension occurred, according to McDaniels, after "cumulative" warnings about "detrimental behavior" to the club.

In another chapter of football players behaving badly, the Brandon Marshall practice video, on the heels of the Michael Vick fiasco, is yet another example of how bad behavior by football players does not help the image of the sport. Professional football players, as well as other professional sports players, are not just a form of entertainment, one would argue; they are supposed to set good examples, especially for children who aspire to have a career in professional sports.

However, McDaniels, in his press conference on Brandon Marshall, said that the Denver Broncos have good receivers "with him or without him" and thinks its "dead wrong" to stereotype all football players based on a few bad apples.

Unfortunately, those few bad apples can spoil the whole bunch.

But as John McMullen writes, at FantasyPlayers.com in his Deterring Bad Behavior, "Human beings who are spoon fed a sense of entitlement from high school on are even more flawed and no policy policing personal conduct can plug that dam."
