Brangelina Twins - What's in a Name?

Because Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt is so 2006!

Hybrid Children

As I turned on the television and found every single news channel reporting on the fact that the couple of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie properly known as "Brangelina" gave birth to twins I thought to myself "enough is enough". Brangelina gave birth to a boy Knox Leon Jolie-Pitt and twin sister Vivienne Marcheline Jolie-Pitt. Awesome. Now there are a thousand articles from baby name experts, analysts, and the likes. You would think that with so much coverage it was the second coming. Yeah, yeah adopted kids from other countries are cool and all but nothing compared to the first born of the famous twosome. Shiloh Novel Jolie-Pitt was born in 2006 and stole the shine from all the other kids on the Brangelina block. Amazingly enough as "eccentric", "trend setting", and "living outside the box" as the pair are their daughter looks rather plain. Your all American female child with bright blue eyes, blonde hair, and ivory skin. People everywhere were clamoring to find out what the child of two of the world's most beautiful people would look like. How else could Brangelina raise the bar on the hype following Shiloh other than giving birth to not one, but two more Jolie-Pitt hybrid children?

The History

It all began with Angelina adopting Maddox, which is what Jolie named the baby boy she adopted from Cambodia in 2002. After living life in a self described dark spiral of selfishness Jolie decided taking on a child as a single mother would give her a purpose in life. How selfless. This action of humanity was followed up by adopting Zahara, which means "shining" in Arabic, the baby girl she adopted from Ethiopia in 2005. It was around this time that Brangelina decided to fuse together as an unmarried couple to adopt and give birth to as many children as possible. The couple gave birth to "authentic" Jolie-Pitt d.n.a holder Shiloh but that wasn't enough. The name Pax, which means peace, was what the couple chose for the boy they adopted from Vietnam in 2007. Again, this set of children wasn't nearly enough. The couple conceived and in 2008 it was announced that they would be having twins.

Collecting Children

With all the chaos and trendiness of collecting children from all nations and giving birth to a "genetically perfect" child you'd think Brangelina would slow down. Apparently Angelina has stated she would like to have even more children. The question I ask is when are people going to realize that Brangelina are collecting children like they are dying to round out their collection of "We are The World" dolls? When does adopting "cute" orphans from third world countries and giving birth to your own children in every country EXCEPT the United States become too much?

The Moral Dilemma

Does Angelina really think that selling photos of her children for millions, and giving the profit to charities constitutes as an act of unselfish kindness? When does the trendiness of the whole situation get to be too much? Will you raise a group of 6+ children to know mommy and daddy are together but not married and that's ok. What happens when the break-up happens? It's inevitable that a family so based in surreality will fail.

The True Reality of It All

Of all the good intention in the world Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are so out of touch with reality that they may never make the change in the world that they so strive for. How can you adopt from every country but the United States which has millions of children who need a stable home? Maybe it wouldn't cause as much of a stir in the media? The reality is that adopting one child from each country in this world wouldn't change the economy in those countries. Two multi-millionaire white entertainers, one born into privilege, the other happening upon it not too far into his life will never understand the true measures necessary to eliminate poverty. Their reality is surreal. My only hope is that the children of this bunch will grow to be strong and unaffected by this obvious search for self by their parents. Welcome to the world little ones.
