Stone Hill Winery and Mt. Pleasant Winery are two wineries, located across the road from each other, on Green Mountain Highway. Visitors can learn a bit about the process of wine making and taste a few of the vintages from these historic Missouri wineries.
Stone Hill Winery enjoys a convenient location on Route 165 and Green Mountain Highway, two blocks south of Business 76. The winery in located in a wood building surrounded by a large parking lot.
Visitors begin and end the wine tour in the spacious wine store. According to Stone Hill, thousands of people tour the facility every day. Visitors are divided into small groups to tour the winery. Tours start every 15 minutes.
It takes about on hour to tour the winery. The tour gives visitors a step-by-step look at the wine making process., including the bottling process for Spumante. They also talk about the special process of making Sherry, which is baked and then stored in an oak cask.
After the tour, guests gather around a bar for a wine tasting. The tour guide selects 6-7 wines for tasting and answers questions about wine and wine making. Stone Hill Winery makes a variety of different wines, suitable for different tastes, so a wine tasting is a good way to determine which is the determine which would be your favorite. Some of the wines listed on the wine list are Vidal Blanc, Vignoles, Chardonel, Dry Rose, Hermannsberger, Chambourcin, Norton, Rhine, Spumante, Concord, Port and Cream Sherry. Of the wines I tasted, the Sherry was my favorite.
Stone Hill Winery inBranson is part of the historic Stone Hill Winery in Hermann, Missouri. Stone Hill Winery, which opened in 1847, was once the second largest winery in the United States. Due to Prohibition, in 1920, the business closed for several years. The historic winery was restored and reopened , by owners who purchased it in 1965. Stone Hill has three locations, in Hermann, Branson and New Florence, Missouri. Stone Hill Winery has seven vineyards, all located in the Hermann Viticultural Appellation.
After the wine tasting, visitors are ushered to the wine story, where wine is available for sale by the bottle or by the case. Of course, the wines are discounted if you buy by the case.
Mount Pleasant Winery is located across the road from Stone Hill Winery. Mount Pleasant Winery was founded in 1859 in Augusta, Missouri. The Branson location has been open since 2008. The winery offers free wine tours and tastings., Mount Pleasant Winery is located at 3125 Green Mountain Highway in Branson, MO.
