Brass and Bluegrass Music Podcasts

Karen Barnes
The two styles of music that I have listed in this article are brass music and bluegrass. I don't mind music that is played with all brass instruments. I have been a fan of bluegrass for as long as I can remember.

The small town in Oklahoma where I grew up there was a family that played bluegrass. Throughout the year different groups would hold concerts at the local school. This bluegrass playing family often played in these concerts. The concerts where often put together by a group of the high school raising money for their cause. The families that played in these concerts loved playing these concerts to help the local high school activities.

I have listened to Bill Monroe, Lester Flatts and Earl Scruggs, and several other well known bluegrass artists. I have enjoyed the stories these musicians tell with bluegrass. Last year my husband and I went to the Walnut Valley music festival in Arkansas City, Kansas. There was bluegrass played there. Not only that, musicians played against each other in contest to win prizes.

If you have a chance to attend an event like this, you should do it because you will find some great talent. These people usually aren't well-known as the people I mentioned earlier, but they are great musicians in their own right. We found that many of these musicians had a following of their own locally and from the states they were from.

Sometimes the high school band would do a set of music to help fill in the gaps between the musical groups playing in these concerts. Their music pieces often were brass pieces to focus certain areas of the band. This helped them prepare for any band events they attended throughout the year.

About the only type of music I am not a huge fan of is classical and opera. I can listen to a few classical pieces before becoming bored into a coma. As for opera, I can't stand that style of music. So I didn't list either of these styles in this article. I may write an article geared towards these two types of music at a later date.

Conclusion

I hope you find the brass and bluegrass music as entertaining as I do. I like sharing some of the types of music, such as brass and bluegrass, with everyone. I haven't met a person yet who doesn't like some type of music.
