Braun Impression KF 600 10-Cup Coffee Maker
Braun KF 600 Coffee Maker Makes a Decent Impression and a Decent Cup of Coffee
My main requirement for the new coffee maker was getting a well built one that would not leak. I man-handled a number of coffee makers during my visit to the department store. The Braun KF600 seemed to be the sturdiest. All the pieces fit together perfectly. I decided to take it home to see how well it would brew a cup of coffee.
Advantages:
The price of the Braun KF600 is right. It is less than $90. It has a sleek design. It's black and stainless steel exterior will compliment any kitchen. It's surprisingly compact and takes up little counter space. I don't mind leaving this out for everyday use.
The unit has a "perma gold filter." You will never be in danger of running out of coffee filters. It's amazing how quickly the Braun KF600 brews coffee. By the time I've decided on my breakfast and gotten it ready, the coffee is done.
The coffee brews into a thermal carafe. The major benefit of the thermal carafe is you'll never drink a burnt cup of coffee again. The carafe has a large opening to make it super easy to clean.
If you live in a hard water area, you'll like the water filter feature. They've included one for you to try. Its use is optional.
Drawbacks:
The main negative of the Braun KF600 is that it doesn't make a hot cup of coffee, even just brewed. I find myself having to microwave my coffee, if it's been sitting too long in the carafe.
The unit states it is a 10 cup coffeemaker. No way. I guess, it does depend how you measure a cup of coffee. The Braun KF600 does make plenty of coffee for two people though. If I'm entertaining, I know I just need to make two pots of coffee. No big deal.
The coffee maker does not have a programmable feature. If this is a must for you, do not get this coffee maker. There are a few times during the year when it would be nice to be able to set up the coffeemaker the night before and have a cup of coffee ready first thing. On occasion, I still miss this feature.
You may have a hard time finding water filter replacements in the store. I have tried a few stores and have yet to find one. They are readily available on-line. I hate paying for shipping.
The Verdict:
The positives outweigh the negatives. I would recommend the Braun KF600 coffee maker. It's never leaked and it continues to make a decent cup of coffee. The quest for the perfect cup of coffee continues.
