Brave the Weather

Missy H.
A poem about a girl I know

She almost wants
to get on her knees
Ask for a chance
and beg him, please
Everyone says
"What's the point in that?
He has treated you
like a front door mat
He does not
want you anyway
What could you possibly
have left to say?"
If she does
she puts her head
on the chopping block
remembering what he said
She wishes life was easier
and we all got what we wanted
Sometimes, she's so lonely
she almost feels haunted
She loves him so much
and can't make it stop
So close to the bottom
can't even see the top
She feels like a bag in the wind
Without any tether
trying her best
to brave the weather
