As the years went by, breakdancing became popular especially when the concept of dance battles was born. The dance battles were used by gangters as a form or method of settling issues and disputes among their members. The good foot performance by James Brown was basically part of the dance battles. However, the idea of good foot was only short-lived as it became known as the breakdancing or the b-boy eventually.
Historically speaking, the breakdancing moves from the previous years were a lot more different from the ones that we see nowadays. The documented moves of windmill or headspin are not yet known during the early decades of breakdancing. The early dancers of breakdancing only use their feet to perform their moves and styles. However, there are some people who still argue until today that the old style of breaking is a lot more complicated compared to the current style of breaking that we witness these days.
The floor work of the early breaking was fantastically complex compared to the modern breakdancing competition today where there are lots of gymnastics moves. Though the present competitions today are a lot impressive, many still think that the original roots of breakdancing are now gone. But taking a look at it, it's just a mere evolution for breakdancing.
Eventually, breakdancing crews were formed. These crews comprise of members most likely breakdancers who would practice and dance together. During the practice, the very basic breakdancing choreography will come out. Every member in the crew is free to contribute his idea of moves and styles to make the performance of the group successful. During the time when the crews in breakdancing were bursting into popularity, Afrika Bambaata embraced the idea whole-heartedly. Afrika Bambaata is a legendary icon in the world of hip-hop who had the influence of bringing the idea of breakdancing to the consciousness of the general public. He had encouraged the crews to develop what they are doing to be able to win dance battles.
