Haleiwa, HI 96712
United States of America
As Hawaii does not field an NFL team, the best football team that Hawaii has to offer is the University of Hawaii Warriors. Seeing as they were ranked in the top 10 in 2007 and played against Georgia in the Sugar Bowl, you can see why the whole state goes into a frenzy on game days, and so does Breakers.
Breakers offers a huge screen. No it is not a big screen TV, it is a big pull down white screen on one side of the facility that utilizes a projector from a satellite feed. This gives you the actual game experience. It is so huge that the projected images of the players are life sized. It looks as though a linebacker is really running right at you. On game days it can get pretty packed so make sure to get there early.
The appetizers are really cheap to begin with, but on game days it gets dropped down even more. You can get such things as veggie sticks, calamari, buffalo wings and of course you can get beer. The food is just okay, so if you are looking to get really good food then you may want to think of visiting some other places in Haleiwa.
The crowd is usually a mix of folks on game day, but on other days you will find more of a younger crowd. Overall it is a good place to hang out with friends, but I have actually seen people bring in their kids. I would not suggest this as it is still partially a bar and with that you get your usual patrons who get a little rowdy and drink too much. Other than that, it is the only place on the north shore that caters to the younger and hip generation. If you are looking for a restaurant bar sort of atmosphere, then Breakers in Haleiwa town is where you want to be. Affordable prices and live music are only a few reasons to check it out. Stop in and see for yourself why many visit this popular location.
