Breakfast, Diamonds and Videotape

My Wedding Proposal.

Shawntell Frentz
The morning Eric proposed to me was of course completely unexpected, as it should be. We were to arrive at Eric's parent's house for a Frentz family tradition, "Big Breakfast." Nothing out of the ordinary thus far.

Surrounded by mounds of french toast, a fruit bowl, eggs, at least 2 pounds of bacon and coffee, we all sat down and decided who would say grace. As we held the hands of the person seated to either side, Eric began to say the blessing. The prayer went something like this:

"Dear Lord, thank you for this food we are about to enjoy. Thank you for our friends, family and time spent together, thank you for food and Hm?..." My memory fails me a bit, Eric's hand trembling violently in my own. I wondered if he was OK? He continued, "Thank you for Shawntell..." I think I blanked out for a moment until he asked, "Will you marry me?" A bit more trembling and I would have begun to suspect something. Eric proceeded to reach under the table and removed a small, gray box, hidden within his sock. He opened it to reveal the diamond ring I had picked out. He had previously told me he wouldn't be purchasing the ring that year. I later learned that he had purchased it a month prior to the occasion.

I was so excited! I couldn't stop chattering and giggling throughout breakfast. I'm a friendly person to begin with, but I completely made a fool of myself; which I discovered after a hidden video camera was exposed. Upon watching the tape I couldn't help but laugh at myself. What made the proposal so special was that Eric chose to have the most important people in his life there, his family.
