Breakfast at Tiffany's Themed Wedding Reception

Michele Arrowsmith- Rowe
Breakfast at Tiffany's is a romantic comedy about a Manhattan playgirl, Holly Golightly (Audrey Hepburn), who is searching for Mr. Right in a city full of, "rats and super rats." Holly lives in a brownstone on Manhattan's swank eastside. She pays for her lavish lifestyle by receiving money from her gentlemen escorts and weekly trips she makes to Sing Sing Prison, where she visits Sally Tomato, an ex-mobster. Paul Varjak (George Peppard), a young writer, falls in love with her. He is attracted to her free spirit nature, in which includes her daily breakfast trips to Tiffany's to cure her, "reds,", her unfurnished luxurious apartment, and her "no name" cat. However, even though she trusts Paul, she continues to date other men, for all the wrong reasons. When Paul tells her that he is truly in love with her, she discovers that her uncommitted ways is simply her being afraid of love. At the end of the movie, she discovers she is in love with him - - and they live happily ever after! Like the movies, do you want to live happily ever after? Are you a fan of romantic comedies? Or, are you in love with the "little blue box wrapped in a white bow?" For whichever reason, here are some wedding reception ideas that might be a right fit for you!

Need location ideas for your grand affair? The perfect location for this theme is a location near the Fifth Avenue store, in New York City! One such location could be" The Plaza Hotel!" If this does not fit your budget or you don't live close to the city, find a site that is reminiscent of the city. For example, a hotel with a posh ballroom, a jewelry store, or a museum would be perfect settings.

Need invitation ideas? Pick a simple Tiffany blue or aqua wedding invitation tied with a white bow. Gourmet Invitations has an excellent example of wedding stationary perfect for this theme. For a finished touch, add rhinestones or crystals to the bow!

Need color ideas? Take the color scheme from Tiffany's signature blue box and white ribbon, of course! Need accent color ideas? Black, gold, or my favorite, silver, would be great accent choices.

Need décor ideas? Liken to Holly's lavish but very simple lifestyle, I picture the space very simple, classic, and sophisticated. I recommend using Cloth Connection's Tiffany blue Lamoure table clothes and white Lamoure napkins. Use silver Chiavari chairs with white Lamoure chair pads. Place a Tiffany blue Lamoure tie and white flowers to each chair. Attach the blue tie add white blooms with a white bow. Finish the chair design with a strand of tear drop chandelier crystals. Add tall silver plated vases filled with all white Calla lilies, white tulips, and roses. Since this event is a Breakfast at Tiffany's and not a Dinner at Tiffany's event, skip the candles! Instead, surround the large vase with five small silver plated Mint Julep cup vases and fill them with either all white roses or tulips. Hang several strands of tear drop chandelier crystals, from each of the vases. Sprinkle diamond confetti in the middle of each table. Add white chargers, with silver rims, to each place setting. Layer each charger with a Tiffany blue menu, white napkin folded in a basic napkin ring fold, and finish the napkin design with a diamond ring napkin holder. Need small frames for your escort cards? How about faux diamond photo frames!

Need favor ideas inspired by the movie? Of course, can't forget the little blue box with the white bow! Fill the box with Cracker Jacks and a faux silver ring personalized with your monogram. Of course, like in the movie, you could always see if Tiffany's would personalize them for you! Personalize the outside of the box with, "Your last name & Co. " Don't like the Cracker Jack idea? Fill the boxes with Hershey's Candy Kisses or your favorite candy!
Need menu ideas? If you are having a Breakfast at Tiffany's themed wedding, you have to serve breakfast, of course! You could offer your guest a sit down breakfast with choices such as Crepes, Eggs Benedict, or French Toast. However, don't forget to serve the character's favorite breakfast - - Danish and coffee! If you choose this type of service, you could have a lavish wedding on a purse string budget! Want other service options? Have a traditional brunch, with many food stations set up throughout the room. This sure would be a crowd pleaser! What beverages should you offer your guests? Chilled champagne, of course! And yes, like the character Paul, you could drink this before 10:00 AM!

Entertainment ideas? Hire a big band or DJ to play late 1950's and early 1960's hit music. And don't forget - - the theme wouldn't be complete without the song, "Moon River!"

Cake ideas? I recommend an aqua tiered cake. Have the baker add white ribbon and white and diamond embellishments. For a finished touch, set the cake on a silver plate cake stand!

If you are a hopeless romantic or just like that little blue box with a white ribbon, this theme might be a perfect match for you! From location, invitation, color scheme, décor, favors, food and beverage, entertainment, and cake - - these ideas will get you started! Then, when your big production is wrapped, you can have that true Hollywood ending - - and live happily ever after!
