Breaking Down on Snack Money

Stop spending so much of your hard-earned money on snacks...it simply is not worth it!

Did you know the average American family spends almost $200 a week on groceries?! That is insane! I would have to bet that at least one-third of that amount goes to snacks and convenience foods. Individually packaged snack foods are not saving you any money and quite honestly, very little time.

Break down your spending!

The cost of a large bag of individually packaged potato chips averages about $6.99. There are usually 12 to 18 individual packages in the bag, depending on the brand.

So, let us say you have a family of four and each member brings one bag of chips to work or school every day for three days a week, a bag of 12 packages is gone in THREE DAYS!

However, if you buy a large, single bag of potato chips for about $3.00 and break that down in to 12 individual snack bags, you just saved yourself $3.99!

Now, of course, you have to buy the snack bags, but if you go to the dollar store to purchase them, you are still saving $2.99. That is almost half price.

Purchase a large bag of pretzels, cheese doodles, cookies, tortillas, dried fruit or trail mix and break those down in to smaller bags as well.

The savings is huge, and you can limit the amount of junk your family is eating at home, work or school by individualizing the bags and the serving sizes.
