Will: "I think you know who we need to protect here."
Alicia: "I understand it, but it doesn't mean I have to like it."
Jonathan appears to take the deal, but in an unexpected turn confesses to killing the pharmacist in order to protect his girlfriend who is pregnant. She actually shot him defending him from being attached by the pharmacist during the pregnancy. Alexis screams and cries in anguish, "Let me out, let me out, oh please why did you do this!" We see the unexpected "soft side" of Carey as he allows the two lovers to embrace one last time.
College students aren't the only one's breaking up. Owen (Dallas Roberts, Alicia's brother) appears after breaking up with his lover Kevin. Owen admits to Alicia he thinks he will be alone forever and asks her;
"They should put you a museum . . . How do you make love outlast passion?"
Alicia: "Is that what I do? I think it's not just about the heart Owen, sometimes the heart needs ... steering."
Owen: "I thought you were going to say something profound."
Beauty meets the Beast as Kalinda (Award Winning Archie Panjabi) and Blake question Jenny Solarno, the person the two lovers are blaming for the murder. Breaking down the door, Blake walks in to find Kalinda already talking to her. In a pure intimidation tactic, Blake pushes the "witness" with his club. Jenny reveals the truth; that Alexis shot the pharmacists and now they are both covering for each other. Kalinda now has a few secrets on Blake. Which one will win in the battle of the wits between these two characters?
Gardner and Lockhart are "breaking up" as Diane Lockhart (Christine Baranski) seems to be jumping ship. Diane approaches Alicia and asks her to keep the break up in confidence, then offers her a job. Sparks fly when Will finds out, not through Alicia, but through pillow talk with his girlfriend. At the end of the day, Diane is told not to return, as security will be posted outside her office. If she wants out of Lockhart and Gardner, fine, she's out.
Will this be the final break for Will and Alicia? Or will she "stand by her man" just as she has for Peter Florrick (Chris Noth)? We may not know the answers to where Alicia will be after the break-up of Lockhart and Gardner or the secret stories behind Blake and Will or Blake and Kalinda we do know where "The Good Wife" fans will be later on this month with "The Good Wife" having three Golden Globe nominations for: Best Television Series - Drama; Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series - Julianna Marguiles (Alicia); and Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Series, Mini Series, or Motion Picture Made for TV Movie - Chris Noth (Peter). Don't miss out on these nominations as the winners are announced on January 16, 2011.
"The Good Wife" also has two SAG (Screen Actors Guild) Nominations in the categories of Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series - Julianna Marguiles and Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series. Will "The Good Wife" be among the winners revealed on Sunday, Jan. 30, 2011?
If the awards, from the 2010 People's Choice to the 2011 Golden Globe aren't enough then be sure to find the other reasons why you shouldn't miss "The Good Wife."
Be sure to set the TIVO to record next week's episode where Will depends on a jury consultant who can "read" juries by watching their expressions.
