Breaking the Myth: Wrinkle Prevention

Most every women, and even men, have one common fear when it comes to being old; wrinkles. Who wants them? After observing numerous skin care products, no one does.

But the cold-hard truth of the matter is wrinkles are a part of life and do happen. Of course you have ways to eliminate them and help prevent deep and highly noticeable wrinkles, but they can not be stopped from forming.

Breaking the myths: So many wrinkle "cures" are passed off today as gospel it's ridicules. Do not get me wrong, there are some products out there (make sure you note the "some") that really do as they say, but one must keep a sharp eye out for false products.

Do not believe everything you hear and see. This is the biggest no no. Technology today can fool you in a heart beat. Make sure you really do research on a product and listen to the views of those who have used the product you are looking into.

Now onto the myths:

Myth 1: Moisturize...moisturize...moisturize...

FALSE! People thing that moisturizing everyday and night will stop the wrinkles from coming, but this is very untrue. This has to be one of the oldest myths going around.

Moisturizing is very good for the skin because it gives it what it needs to keep soft, toned, and even textured. But does it prevent wrinkles? Moisturizing does prevent what we call "dry wrinkles". These wrinkles are caused by dryness of the skin, lack of moisture, and are normally flaking and fine lines. Sometimes the wrinkle lines will be deep. But moisturizing does not, and will not prevent age wrinkles. These are the wrinkles you get over the years from lack of elasticity and collagen in the skin. Aging hormones are also a big cause for wrinkling skin. Moisturizing can not prevent this or turn back the clock.

Myth 2: Water everyday keeps the wrinkles away.

Not quite.

Though water is essential for everyday, it will not keep the wrinkles away. It all goes back to the collagen and skin elasticity. Drinking plenty of water everyday will flush toxins from your body, keep your skin hydrated (inside and out), and give you a youthful glow, but wrinkles will still come with age.

But make sure you note: Skin will become dehydrated and wrinkle more and quicker if you do not drink enough water. Get that water in your system!

Myth 3: Wrinkle products

Do you know the saying "If it's too good to be true, it probably is"? Always keep this in your mind when shopping for wrinkle products. Most of those products do not do what they say they will. So if it seems too good to be true, be more careful with your money, it probably is.

It's best to talk with a dermatologist and ask for their advice on wrinkle "miracles" before buying.
