The history of this constellation, portrayed by a man holding a snake, goes back to the days of the construction of the ancient pyramids. Ophiucus and the thirteen zodiac signs have always been recognized in most veins of eastern astrology.
Though Nostradamus, 2012, and the end of the Mayan calendar thematic is reappearing, this new highlight of the 13th sign is absent of the ominous connotations.
Because of the association with Pluto, and the fact that planet this takes so long to make a full orbit, Ophiucus had faded into relative obscurity up until now. The revival of the recent special awareness began around 1990.
The western style of astrology has only twelve signs which divide neatly into 30 degrees. But Ptolemy had listed most of the stars in the Ophiucus constellation in the 2nd century.
Symbolic imagery of this constellation is that of a man holding a snake. It is not represented with a planet, however.
In history, Ophiucus symbolism peaked from approximately 4500 BC to 2500 AC. Some say the Mayans recognized this galaxy, and represented its dark area as the mouth of Quetzalcoatl. Nostradamus also made mention of this event of Pluto entering the vicinity of constellation Ophiucus.
The number thirteen has always been a source of fascination, and so it is with the 13th zodiac sign which is positioned between Scorpio and Capricorn.
Included in the description of the traits are dreams, and the intuitive, clear premonitions, medicine, invention, taxes, astrological talent, victim of jealousy, and more.
The snake symbolism also weaves throughout ancient history from Greek Mythology, through the well known biblical symbolism of Adam and Eve.
Astrologers are going to have infinite ways to reference the representation of the snake. Research goes on. Though the Biblical version of the snake carries a negative connotation, most other beliefs throughout history associate it with something positive.
The staff of Asclepius with a snake coiling around the rod is still associated with modern day medicine.
Expectations are a world wide awakening and shift in consciousness. The healing of abysmal human conditions is currently the general consensus amongst the astrological descriptions.
Theories go to the beginning of a new world wide religion, and a new psychic kind of children that are being born on earth.
A number of double stars are contained in this constellation, of which two represent the hands of the man holding the snake. As two of the prominent stars have their own symbolism, this phenomenon of Orphiucus and its movement is also being traced to Twin Towers, and the inception of the World Wide Web where two hands also have a connection with the electrical imagery.
Moreover, consider ". . . how an electric musician, an energy healer and a Web surfer all work with "the energy" through their two hands." - Namaste

Post a CommentI find this to be very strange! Thanks for sharing. 5*
Most astrologers agree that the original 12 signs from Babylonian algorithms are close to being accurate. The earth hasn't changed position enough to add the 13th`sign and change the formulas.
I'm sticking with my old Pisces designation for the moment:)
Fun read!!
How do you even say Ophiuchus?!!? cheers ;)
I don't know. I saw a big snake one day on my property. Nothing positive about that experience.
SPELLING CORRECTION: Having sought out this information bleary eyed at 4 a.m. I later noticed that I misspelled the name of the constellation, though the pronunciation would most likely be the same. The correct spelling is OPHIUCHUS . Hope this hasn't affected any searches - if I hadn't been at it in the wee hours of the morning, I wouldn't have been able to get access to this information at all!
Very strange to decide to change an old tradition. Guess I will remain a member of the old school :)
