Breaking News: Robot Bumps Vent, BP Forced to Remove Cap Over Leaking Oil Well in the Gulf of Mexico

Karen Gros
Breaking News- According to the U.S. Coast Guard British Petroleum has been forced to remove the cap over the leaking oil well in the Gulf of Mexico because an underwater robot bumped into the vent.

The bump caused gas to rise through the vent that carries warm water down to the well in order to prevent ice crystals from forming on the vent pipe. BP has removed the vent and investigating the damage to the vent and vent pipe before re-applying the vent over the leaking well. They are also checking to see if any ice crystals have formed.

A separate system is using the burn-off method and burning oil off the surface at the present time.
