Breaking the Rules

Top 5 Rules Adults Break Every Week

Melissa B
You heard it said before, treat others the way you want to be treated. So how many times have we considered the golden rule a part of our conversations and actions today? Thats rule number one.

1)The Golden Rule, Treat Others The Way You Want To Be Treated
Most adults admit at times, their fiery tempers flare and they shoot their mouths off to people who they admit, didn't deserve the treatment they received. Even more pressing is the fact that these same adults, who are mistreated by someone else find it almost impossible to forgive them if they are not related. Where is our human compassion?

2)Wash Your Hands Before You Eat
Rule number two, a definite shocker. About two out of three adults fail to yield to the rule of washing their hands before they eat. This rule is broken by some adults at every meal. Gross! Our hands are one of the most germ infested areas of our body, and lets face it, a lot of the food we eat today is without flatware. We grab a slice of pizza, or dip a french fry in ketchup with out the help of the rule of washing your hands.

3)Don't Pick Your Nose!
Are you ready for rule number three? This rule is broken by people who do it when they think no one is watching, any guesses? Well we all give our children the rule of not picking their noses, so how many adults do you think do this? 86% percent of adults polled admitted to picking their nose, or sending out a snot rocket with out a tissue, this past week! And75% percent of those who painfully admitted breaking this rule, also admitted they did it when they thought no one was looking. Caught Ya!

4)Flush The Toilet When Your Finished - Ladies?
What rule do you think is more common to be broken by woman then men? It's not farting. It may even beat out farting. Rule number four, not flushing the toilet. Gasp...woman? Yes. In a observation study of two department store restrooms, the ladies room had an average of three out of seven stalls left unflushed verses men with one out of seven unflushed stalls per bathroom. Enough said, ladies - lets start following this rule, it's not fair to the other lady like ladies out there.

5)Say "Excuse Me" After Passing Gas ..um.. men, that's you!
What rule could possibly top the past four rules? It's a good one. Rule number five, the fifth and final rule is one that is broken by more men then woman, and it's a rule we tell or children all the time. Rule number five, not saying excuse me after passing gas. As a matter of fact it gets deeper. Most men not only break this rule but blow it straight out the box, by purposely farting and then laughing, smirking, or even denying it. However men, woman are still guilty of the same rule, but I think we choose not to say excuse me because we smell like roses! Just kidding. I needed something to help make up for the fourth rule's vulgarity.

So parents, before we shout out yet another rule our children should follow, lets set a good example. After all it is said children do as you do, not as you say.
Plus, we have nothing but good intentions for our kids, let give ourselves the same concern and consideration. Following these rules will not hurt, but can be a good for you change, so follow the rules.
