During the surgery, the incision can be made either in the crease where the breast meets the chest, around the areola, or in the armpit. Putting the implant behind the chest muscle may reduce the potential for capsular contracture. However this placement may be more painful for some days. After the surgery, incisions are closed using stitches. A gauze bandage may be applied over the stitches to heal properly. Within a few days, dressings may be removed and you are directed to wear a surgical bra of your size and shape by your surgeon. A burning sensation may be there in the nipples or areolar tissues, but it will go by the time.
