Breast Augmentation and the Media

Heide Lynne Canlas II
The media has helped the cosmetic surgery industry. In one way or another it raised the people's awareness about cosmetic surgical procedures like breast augmentation surgery. So much has changed about the people's views concerning cosmetic surgery. Like a pendulum the views of the people swayed to the side that the trends pointed at. At the centre of these changes was the media the driving force that has served the purpose of both the supporters and the detractors of this practice.

Unwitting Allies

Regardless of how shallow it may sound the fact remains that it's easier to watch T.V. with beautiful faces and bodies prancing around on the T.V. screen. Whether they admit it or not the truth remains that some media personalities have undergone cosmetic surgery (or surgeries) either for the reason mentioned above or for their personal satisfaction. The media changed the way beauty is perceived time and time again. And cosmetic surgery served as the people's door to the attainment of such beauty. According to recent studies, most patients who resort to breast augmentation surgeries are usually from a younger age bracket and are generally less-educated. These kinds of people are quite impressionable so it comes as no surprise to see that this is partly due to the media's influence.

In Conclusion...

It's never a bad thing to go for a breast augmentation surgery. But the bottom line is doing it without knowing any of the possible risks is dangerous and stupid. The media may show you the good side of the story but that should not be the only driving factor to consider. As the old saying goes, the truth is best seen with your own two eyes know all that you must in order to make the best choice.
