Breastfeeding is Not Easy at First - a Fathers Perspective

Sebastian Thomas
As a father, I have noticed my wife struggling to produce milk for our new twins. It has been a happy and busy time for us these days and knowing the great benefits of breastfeeding has inspired us to make it happen for the twins.

I have noticed a significantly different behavior in kids that have been breastfed in the past. They are much more calmer, their behavior is better and they tend to do great in school. Besides the fact that breast milk eliminates bacteria from the babies body, I gave been quite grateful that such a thing exists.

The first week was hard for my wife to produce the necessary amount of milk for our twins. It has been about a week now and although the production of it has increased, it is still not enough to fully nourish both of the twins. Therefore, we are alternating and with the regular Enfamil milk.

Our babies were born a little early and it has worked better for us in the beginning to use a plastic syringe feeder to feed the babies. Quite a useful tip for babies having problems eating, by the way. This has proven to be one of the most effective methods in giving our kids the milk that they need. If not, they would just be sucking away at the bottle or breast without really taking in any kind of nourishment.

Anyways, besides the fact that now I am a father of 4 beautiful kids, I have learned quite a few things in this whole pregnancy/birth situation. I have learned that stress during a pregnancy can cause complications while giving birth and high blood pressure. So, if you can try to relax during pregnancy and do something that exercises the mind to alleviate those weary contractions, it would help.

Trust me, this advice can go a long way to determine how you come out of an active labor situation. In the end, try not to give each other a hard time. Although, it can be tough breastfeeding your child in the beginning, it will gradually pick up before you know it and save you tons of money in the long run. I mean, do you even know how much those cans of formula costs? Incredible.
