Breathing Lessons

C. Theodore Walker
The voice of my muse,
Haunting,
Distant
Calling me to breathe
Breathe life, take life
To the next level
Lifting away veils
Of trappings
The teacher's calling to me;
That clarion call...
Write...
Write what you know...
Will it take away my knowing?
Will I evolve from the change?
I breathe...
Breathe in life...
Fearing a little as it moves
Into me...
Cool, crisp the air singes
My lungs
Cool September morn,
Resting easy on my mind
Feeling the wind howl
Obscenities to me,
Causing me to jump, WOO!
Feeling pressure behind
My eyes
Warning? Danger?
Of what, unknown to me
But cautiously I release
My breath
Expire...
Flowing warm over my lips
Seeing pattern in the air
Knowing I'm alive and
Well.
Fear to breathe?
Maybe, but to gain life,
And it's wealth,
One must inspire only to
Eventually expire...
