Breeds of Dogs in the Non-Sporting Group

The Non-Sporting dogs are split off from the other groups and have a diversity of traits. These dogs have many different personalities and appearances. This is varied group of dogs in terms of size, coat, personality and overall appearance.

American Eskimo: The American Eskimo is a medium sized Nordic dog with a long, fluffy coat of long white hair. This breed is intelligent, alert, and friendly.

Bishon Frise: This breed is small and sturdy with a fluffy white coat and a plumed tail carried over it's back. Bishon Frise are gentle mannered, sensitive, playful, cheerful and affectionate.

Boston Terrier: This is a medium sized smooth coated dog with a short nose. The Boston Terrier is friendly, lively, intelligent, and has an excellent disposition. Often referred to as "The Little Gentleman" they have dapper marking of brindle, seal or black on a white coat.

Bulldog: The Bulldog is a medium sized dog with heave, thick set, low slung body and massive short faced head, wide shoulders and sturdy limbs. Their disposition is kind resolute and courageous with a dignified air. Bulldogs weigh between 40 to 50 pounds.

Chow Chow: This is an ancient breed originated from northern China. The all purpose dog was used for hunting, herding, pulling and protection of the home. Today the Chow is primarily a companion. They are sturdy, powerful, squarely built Artic type dogs

Chinese Shar-Pei: This is a compact, medium size dog with a square profile. The coat is short. They have loose skin covering the head and body, give a unique look, with loose skin and wrinkles covering the head, neck and body. They are regal, alert, intelligent, dignified, lordly, scowling, sober and snobbish, independent and calm.

Dalmatian: The Dalmatian is a distinctively spotted dog of medium size. The are alert, poised, strong, muscular and active.

Finnish Spitz: The Finnish Spitz has a fox like look with pointed muzzle, erect ears, dense coat and curled tail. They are active, friendly, lively, eager, faithful, and brave.

French Bulldog: The French Bulldog is a medium sized, muscular, heavy boned dog. They are alert, curious, well-behaved, adaptable and inter tested making them wonderful companions.

Lowchen: This is a small, lively dog that originated as a companion breed to the ladies of the royal court in Pre-Renaissance Europe. The ladies of the royal court groomed the dog in the likeness of a little lion. Lowchens are alert, intelligent and affectionate.

Miniature Poodle, Standard Poodle Poodles are elegant dogs whose fluffy hair is usually groomed and clipped into distinctive style. The Standard Poodle is over 15 inches at the shoulders and the Miniature Poodle is under 16 inches at the shoulders. Poodles are active, intelligent dogs that carry themselves proudly and elegantly.

Schipperke: This is small, thickset, tailless dog with a fox like face. Their distinctive coat includes a stand out ruff, cap and culottes, creating a unique silhouette. The Schipperke is curious and interested in everything around it. They make faithful, protective watchdogs.

Shiba Inu: The Shiba Inu is a small dog of Japanese descent. They are alert, agile, good natured, independent and make wonderful watchdogs.

Tibetan Spaniel: Tibetan Spaniels are small dogs with a thick fluffy coat, with a mane of longer hair around the neck.
They are gay assertive, highly intelligent, lively dogs.

Tibetan Terrier: The Tibetan Terrier is a small dog with a heavy, protective double coat. The terrier is highly intelligent, sensitive, loyal, devoted and affectionate.
