Brent Morel
Height: 6-2
Weight: 220
Born: April 21, 1987
Draft: 2008 - 3rd round
Position: Third Base
Player Profile:
As a 3rd round pick in the 2008 mlb draft, Morel ascended quickly up the minor league ranks as he made his major league debut in September 2010. With a blue collar work ethic and natural instincts defensively at third base, Morel has the opportunity to excel as a third basemen during his major league career. Offensively, Morel is a pure hitter who has an excellent eye at the plate and deploys a compact line drive swing. There is little doubt that Morel has the tools to become an excellent contact hitter who can hit for average at the major league level. Morel's only drawback offensively is his lack of big time power for a corner infielder, however he could develop into a 20 homerun hitter during his career.
Fantasy Baseball Analysis:
Brent Morel offers fantasy baseball teams the potential to be a solid but not great all around stat producer. During the 2009 season at Single A, Morel tallied 16 homeruns and 25 stolen bases to go along with a .281 batting average over 481 at bats. Over the course of 500 at bats in the majors, Morel has the ability to post a respectable combination of power and speed that could easily result in 10-15 homeruns and 10 stolen bases. Add in a solid contact rate, and Morel definitely has the ability to maintain a .290 batting average over the course of a full season.

Dynasty Keeper League Outlook:
With an ability to play above average defense, there is little doubt that Brent Morel will remain at third base over the course of his entire major league career, however if he were to switch positions he could also play second base and shortstop. With this in mind, dynasty keeper leagues teams will not have to worry about the possibility of Morel moving out of the infield anytime soon. Add in the fact that the 3B, 2B and SS positions can often be a hard spot to find solid overall fantasy baseball stat production, and Morel's trio of batting average, power and speed stats, could easily become extremely useful in any fantasy baseball league scoring format.
Stat Projections:
Over the course of 500 at bats, Morel has the ability to post 10-15 homeruns and 10 stolen bases while maintaining a batting average in the .290 range. During the prime of his career, Morel could tally 20 homeruns, 10 stolen bases, 85 runs scored, 80 rbi and a batting average over .300.
