Bret Michaels Publicist: Rocker 'remains in Critical Condition'

Update: March 25, 2010 - 11:06 a.m.: According to an entry on Bret Michaels Facebook page, he remains in ICU in critical condition.

A statement published by Michaels publicist said, "We are hopeful that further tests will locate the source of the bleeding, which has still not been located. As we all know Bret is a fighter and we are hopeful that once all is complete the slurred speech, blurred vision and dizziness, etc. will be eliminated and all functions will return to normal."

There have been several reports that Poison frontman and Rock of Love star Bret Michaels is awake and talking. However, according to Popeater, Bret's publicist told them he "remains in critical condition at an undisclosed location" and will be undergoing further tests in the "coming days."

Bret's father, Wallace Sychak, reportedly told NY Daily News, "We're told he's stabilized and doing as well as can be expected." He went to say Bret is in an Arizona hospital "with really good neurosurgeons."

Citing TMZ, USA Today reports Rock of Love season two winner Ambre Lake said people close to Bret report he is "conscious and in good spirits" after suffering a brain hemorrhage (or subarachnoid hemorrhage) that landed Michaels, 47, in an LA hospital.

Regardless of conflicting reports coming from family and Bret's people, one thing we do know is Bret is still in ICU.

A message was posted to Bret Michaels Facebook page directing fans to follow Bret - aka Bret's people - on Twitter for updates given all the misinformation. Many fans of the rocker are pleading with Bret's people to update them on Facebook instead since they don't use Twitter. No new information has been reported on the star's website, bretmichaels.com.

Bret Michaels, Poison, and the days of Glam-Rock:

Bret Michaels and Poison shot to fame in 1986 following the release of their album Look What the Cat Dragged In and the release of their single Talk Dirty to Me followed by their second album, Open Up and Say...Ahh! I still have my copy of the original tape (hey, this was pre-CD days!).

Fans went nuts over this glam-rock band. Bret's hair hasn't changed much, though it was more platinum and more vibrant back in the '80s. And who could forget those blue eyes and that voice?

Bret didn't always sport a goatee, either. He stayed clean-shaven during his Poison days. In fact, he wore makeup on stage and in videos (hence the "glam" in glam-rock). I remember thinking how wrong it was for any man to look that good in makeup and have "perfect" hair when I struggled to get mine to look just right. Go Bret!

I would like to send Get Well wishes to Bret. Here's hoping for a speedy recovery. Rock on!
