Bret Michaels Talks Backstage After Performing with Casey James ('Every Rose' Video)

Bret Michaels talked to the press backstage after his amazing "American Idol" performance on May 26, 2010, singing "Every Rose Has Its Thorn" with third place finalist, Casey James.

None of the guest stars were introduced by name on the "American Idol" 2010 finale. They were all introduced by a contestant singing part of one of their songs. But even though Casey James began to sing "Every Rose Has Its Thorn," no one was really expecting the recently ill rocker, Bret Michaels to return to the stage.

Bret told the press that he needed to do it: "It's been 2 months since I played, it's been a month and a half in the hospital and it was such an amazing feeling to come out there tonight and jam with Casey. Casey's such a great guitar player."

Bret said that he kept mum about the performance to his doctors and possibly, his family! As to the doctors, he said "I told 'em I was going to do 'Celebrity Apprentice' ... the finale but I feel great, I gotta be honest. There's ... a lot of pain I'm still experiencing, but except for a little, as they say, a little 'hitch in your giddyup,' ... I feel amazing." As to his family, he said : "I may not have told them either. I left a few things out ... but I needed this for my soul. It was a great experience."

It surely was a great experience for Casey James as well. He must feel like one lucky dude!

Brett also said that he was going to try to do a show in Biloxi and see how it goes. "I'll just take a few shows at a time," he said.

I hope that's true, and, also Bret, please tell your doctors and family next time.
