Brett Favre or Drew Brees - Who is Going to the Super Bowl?

Sunshine Wilson
The 2010 NFL NFC Championship game will be a match-up between Brett Favre of the Minnesota Vikings and Drew Brees of the New Orleans Saints, and will determine who is going to the Super Bowl.

The NFC Championship game promises to be one of the greatest playoff games ever, certainly the best this year, with these two impressive quarterbacks, Brett Favre and Drew Brees.

Who is Going to the Super Bowl? Who Can Avoid the Pass Rush?

Although it may be stating the obvious, great passing quarterbacks like Brett Favre and Drew Brees need to avoid the pass rush. At the same time they need to be watching the whole field to see if their primary and secondary receivers are open, and also need to be able to move around in the pocket if necessary. Of course, the offensive line must be able to give the quarterback the time to do this.

In this NFC Championship game, certainly each of these talented quarterbacks, Brett Favre and Drew Brees, has the ability to throw for numerous yards and touchdowns in the game. But it may come down to who can avoid the pass rush most effectively to make the big plays, Brett Favre or Drew Brees? My vote goes to Brett Favre.

Who is Going to the Super Bowl? Will Crowd Noise be a Factor?

The crowd at the Louisiana Superdome during the NFC Championship game will be deafening especially when the Viking offense is out on the field. This will be an attempt by the crowd to make it more difficult for the Vikings to hear the snap count, but it will also serve to strengthen and intensify the motivation of the Saints.

Will the crowd noise upset the passing game of Brett Favre? Brett Favre won Super Bowl XXXI at the Louisiana Superdome in January of 1997. In addition, he is native of the south, having been born in Kiln, Mississippi, which is about an hour away from the Superdome. It is doubtful that the crowd noise will affect him.

Who is Going to the Super Bowl? Two Great Teams

Both the Minnesota Vikings and the New Orleans Saints defeated their playoff opponents convincingly. Without a doubt, both teams deserve to play in this NFC Championship game.

Brett Favre and the Minnesota Vikings beat the Dallas Cowboys with a score of 34 to 3. Brett Favre completed 15 out of 24 passes and threw for 234 yards and 4 touchdowns.

Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints beat the Arizona Cardinals with a score of 45 to 14. Drew Brees completed 23 of 32 passes and threw for 247 yards with 3 touchdowns.

Who is Going to the Super Bowl? Who Wants to Win?

Will it come down to who really wants to win this NFC Championship game more, Brett Favre or Drew Brees? For 40 year old Brett Favre, this may be his last chance for another Super Bowl appearance, so he may be more motivated. The younger Drew Brees will hopefully many more chances in the future.

Who is Going to the Super Bowl? What are the Predictions?

Obviously, many other things may affect the outcome of the game including the running game, special team plays, penalties, injuries and more.

The oddsmakers are predicting that the New Orleans Saints will win the NFC Championship game, favoring them by 4 1/2 points over the Minnesota Vikings.

What is my prediction? Not being an oddsmaker, I think the NFC Championship game will be a high scoring, exciting game with several big plays and that Brett Favre and the Minnesota Vikings will defeat Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints by 14 points.

This is a toss-up for me. I think it depends on which Favre shows up, ya know he has his ups and downs, and which Saints defense shows up.
