Brett Favre is Having His Best Season Ever and If He Has His Way the Minnesota Vikings Will as Well

The Minnesota Vikings Look to the 40 Year-old Quarterback to Shake Their Super Bowl Demons

Where does the time go? Brett Favre is 40 years-old and just two short years ago found himself in the midst of a quarterback controversy in Green Bay. Now Brett is leading his formal rival, the Minnesota Vikings, through a storybook season for both him and his new team. Not only is Favre playing better than ever in Minnesota, the Vikings have responded with their most convincing run at a championship in at least ten years. The Vikings, having never won a Super Bowl in four attempts, may just be able to ride this Favre wave all the way through the choppy NFL seas to their greatest season as well.

One of the biggest knocks on Brett Favre from his detractors has long been that he takes too many chances and throws too many interceptions. Indeed, in six of his previous eighteen NFL seasons Favre had thrown more than twenty interceptions, according to NFL.com. That helps put his performance this year in better perspective. Through nine games this season Favre has only four total turnovers, three interceptions and one fumble. This is the biggest reason - no offense to Adrian Peterson or Jared Allen - that both Favre and the Vikings are having such remarkable success in their still young relationship.

Favre has proven to be everything the Vikings hoped for as they courted him throughout the off-season. With Tarvaris Jackson and/or Sage Rosenfels at the helm the prospects were good, but not great. The other major pieces were there prior to Favre's arrival, the beastly running of Adrian Peterson, the suffocating run defense and swarming pass rush, but the Vikings offense often sputtered in between Peterson touchdown runs. Favre is exactly what the Vikings needed to complete their talent-laden team, an experienced leader who knows how to win games. Favre not only wins games, but he just so happens to have a Super Bowl ring as well.

Vikings history is full of Super Bowl disappointment, having lost four times in four attempts. This is almost certainly the most complete Vikings team since those Super Bowl teams of yore and their "purple people eater" defense. There are certainly holes in the team, but if Brett Favre's recent comments mean anything, this may be the most complete team he's ever played for as well. While most predictions for the Vikings leaned toward them going deep into the playoffs, their 8-1 start has impressed even the most optimistic. If Brett Favre continues to play like an MVP, they may continue to impress all the way into late January.

Well, yes, thank you for your grammatical dissection of my 300-word sports article. I'll be submitting it for peer-review now that you've so graciously edited it for me. Most sports fans can't spell grammar. What are you doing here?

"...through a storybook season for both he and his new team."

For both he and his new team WHAT?

I think you mean "him" (object pronoun of the preposition "for").

Something is not done to "he", and "him" doesn't do something.
