Brett Favre: The Passion

Han Van Meegerin
Something in this world is not right. Is this the end of times that the prophets claimed that one day would arrive? We are just shy of nine years since the terror attacks of 9/11/2001. As horrible as that day was, consider the following: Since that day there was a giant Tsunami in the Indian Ocean. Hurricane Katrina struck our homeland. A massive earthquake shook Haiti. Millions of gallons of oil have spilled into the waters and upon the shores of the Gulf. Today, much of Pakistan is under water. There are questions about the economic recovery of the United States. Also, there is speculation that Israel may consider striking Iran's nuclear facility before this weekend.

The true Savior, Our Lord Jesus Christ said something to the affect that there could be no greater sign of love than for one to willingly and voluntarily lay down their life for a friend. Since Jesus considered all of mankind to be his friends, he took all the collective sin of the world upon himself. He willingly picked up his cross, carried it to Calvary and allowed himself to be crucified in order for those that believe in him to be redeemed and to live forever in his eternal kingdom.

In what seems to be a clear sign of the times that we live in today, we learn that apparently, Bernard Berrian a wide receiver for the Minnesota Vikings tweeted the following: "Favre for President". I am sure that from the other side, the late Governor of Minnesota, Harold Stassen who many times over aspired to be President of the United States was not the only one who turned in his grave.

It is old news that earlier this summer Brett Favre had surgery on his injured ankle and has been working out to try and make it functional so he can play professional football again. Of course like every ankle there have been twists and turns throughout the summer about Favre's true intention of playing NFL football for this upcoming season.

It now appears that the Good News is being played out with a slightly different twist

According to ESPN; Steve Hutchinson, Jared Allen and Ryan Longwell flew down to Hattiesburg Mississippi to speak with Brett Favre about trying to playing for the Minnesota Vikings for one more season.

Please forgive me as my mind conjures up an image of how this series of events unfolded. Perhaps, my vision is that of a raving lunatic. However, please give me the benefit of the doubt. Relax, make yourself comfortable and see if you can picture this scene as well.

The apostles Steve Huchinson, Jared Allen and Ryan Longwell arrive in Mississippi and find Favre in his garden. His arms and legs are stretched out in all his glory as if to indicate he is pondering another run at his passion.

When Favre saw that his friends had so faithfully come to his side, he straightened up and called for Deanna to pour some wine and fix up some steaks for dinner. When supper ended; Hutchinson, Allen and Longwell took out at bread. They gave thanks to Favre and gave him the bread. Together they said take this bread, it is the money that will be given to you in addition to millions more, because of the damage that will be done to your body for playing another season as a Minnesota Viking.

Hutchinson, Allen and Longwell then took a cup of wine and gave it to Brett. Again they gave thanks to Favre and gave him the wine. Together they said take this wine and drink it. This is the wine that will make you drunk, both now and forever. You will feel no pain as you shed blood on the football fields in Minnesota and across the nation as you lead our Viking team to its first ever Super Bowl victory. You must believe that when you hoist The Lombardi Trophy above your head, for that moment unto eternity, every knee will bend at the mention of your name and every tongue will sing your praise. You Brett Favre are the chosen one.

Brett Favre took the bread and ate it. He then took the wine and drank it. His body was now strong and numb. He said to his friends, my hour has come. Let me update my web page to tease people about this glorious moment in time. Favre then boarded a private plane with his pals and flew to Minnesota.

When his plan arrived in Minnesota, he was greeted by many of his adoring fans. He then disappeared to meet with the Minnesota Vikings management to presumably hammer in the final nails of his contract.

After practicing with his team on Wednesday, August 18 2010, Brett Favre held a press conference and heralded the news that indeed he was once again a Minnesota Viking. He seemed proud, poised and prepared to lead his team and perhaps all of his faithful followers to the Promised Land. Of course he is not doing any of this for himself. He is only acting this way out of a sense of obligation to his Viking teammates and to the Viking organization as a whole.

I wonder on this day if the ground shook in Minnesota. Did people in Green Bay people flock to the streets and do a symbolic Lambeau Leap of joy? What else happened all across our great land? Did people find jobs? Was the damage from the oil spill undone? From sea to shiny sea, were people in Pakistan and Haiti relieved and put at ease? Was there a sense of peace that spread throughout the Middle East? These are questions that are on my mind. However, let us close with a prayer.

In the name of Brad Childress
And of Brett Favre
And the Harold Stassen Spirit

Go Vikings! Not!

Amen

Wow this was very interesting! I know it is important for us all to remember who our true idol and only idol should be and is for me and many of my dear friends. Jesus Christ , not sports and entertainment idols.

This was a fun read and time proved that he wasn't the savior some, including himself, thought him to be. Glad you pointed out the only True Savior!

Hi 5 friend Han! And, don't forget to remember that Nashville got flooded. Is this the beginning of the Mayan 2012 prediction that the world as we know it will be forever changed by water?
