Brett Favre Reverses Retirement Decision

Another Return for the Vikings' Quarterback

Pai
It seems like something that occurs every year. Brett Favre announces his retirement, and then, just before football season, he announces that he is coming out of his short, four-month retirement. Of course, this has happened yet again, and Favre has said that he is coming back to the Minnesota Vikings for another season to try to win a championship. Last year, he came back and got to the playoffs. Favre is back on his journey to get one Super Bowl win before retiring for good. I hope.

Normally, when Favre comes back from retirement, he doesn't do so well, and that was one of the reasons he was traded from the Green Bay Packers to the Vikings. It seemed like he was retiring just to gain sympathy for that past season so people would say that he was tired last season and was about to retire anyway. The retirement would be an excuse to not blame him for the past bleak season. However, last season with the Vikings was different. Favre actually had a great season, and carried his team to the playoffs.

This year, it is hard to say how Favre will fare. Given his not-too-perfect health, I doubt he will be able to repeat his success of last season, let alone surpass it. I believe that he won't achieve his goal of getting a Super Bowl win this year, and that it is best that he retires indefinitely after this season. It wouldn't be worth it if he gets injured due to his weak ankle and has a bad season. Having a disability for the reason of his life is horrible compared to living your life without winning a Super Bowl but still being a great quarterback.

So, Brett Favre has come back yet again to the NFL after declaring retirement at the end of last year. His trek to achieve a Super Bowl win will start again this year, and will probably extend to next year. His health problems are a big hurdle to overcome, and his age isn't helping his football that much either. 2011 will probably not be the year for him, but let's see how he does.

The problem is that Brett Farve is simply looking for a way to avoid doing the summer training camp sessions. That's why he keeps feigning this "retirement" talk which we can no longer trust.
