There is a reason Green Bay let Favre go 2 years ago, they had a better quarterback waiting in the wings. Favre obviously couldn't take that and went to the Jets because Green Bay wouldn't allow him to go to the Vikings. Now that he has make it to the Vikings people are expecting great things, but Favre is no longer a MVP performer.
Favre no longer has the arm to throw the ball deep consistently which hurts the Vikings because they now have some deep threats at receiver. Favre is basically just going to manage the offense, which he should be able to do because it has so many weapons. Look for Minnesota to run the ball with Peterson, do lots of short passes, and run many gimmick style plays to get the offense moving.
Minnesota may very well go far in the playoffs this year but it won't be because of Favre. The Vikings have possibly the best player in the NFL in Adrian Peterson. Peterson has dominated the NFL the last two years with defenses keying in on him and now with Favre at quarterback defenses may respect the pass more, even though they shouldn't.
Favre is not the Favre of old and may hinder the offense more then help it. In the end Minnesota may be in worse condition for playing Favre because if he doesn't win this year he is most likely done, I think. Look at the Jets, what did they get for signing Favre for a year?
I can guarantee Favre will add to his many NFL records this year, especially the one he holds for most interceptions thrown. The Vikings have been a quarterback away from being an elite team for 2 years now, but Favre probably isn't the one to put them over the top. Now, I am not saying Minnesota won't be a great team this year but Favre will not be the reason if they are great.
