The décor is very comfortable and intimate. The lighting is dim, the furniture earthy tones and colors. The atmosphere is warm and inviting. There is a window in one of the dining rooms that looks out on the to the brewery which is neat, although it was a bit overwhelming sitting so close to it. It almost took away from the cozy atmosphere, but not enough to bother me.
One of the most appealing features, and one that I find comforting in any restaurant, is an open kitchen. At Brewzzi's, the kitchen is open and all cooking is done in the open.
Of course, because Brewzzi is a microbrewery, the beer certainly warrents mention. Unfortunately, I don't drink beer and can't give a personal opinion. Two of my dining party did have beer, though, and were impressed.
Each of our party ordered something very different and each of us was very impressed with our meal. I had lasagna, which was fantastic. One friend had a monstrous chicken sandwich, one had prime rib and one had another pasta dish, which I cannot remember at this time. All the food was presented well and the portions were outrageous. I ate my lasagna for lunch the next day and it was as good the second time around.
Our table also ordered two appetizers; calamari and mahi mahi fish and chips. Our fish and chips were to die for. Batter dipped fish that was melt in your mouth amazing and the chips were homemade potato chips that I really had a hard time keeping away from. Our table did not order dessert, although there were some very yummy selections to choose from.
Although the food and atmosphere made dining at Brewzzi's an enjoyable experience, the inconsistencies of the service put a bit of a damper on the overall enjoyment of the evening.
When we first arrived at Brewzzi, we asked for a table for four and were told that one was available right away. Before we were seated, I asked if the hostess knew if the rest of our party had arrived and might already be seated. She said she was not sure, but that if we were waiting on anyone to join us who had not already arrived, we could not be seated because they did not seat incomplete parties. When we questioned this, we were not given a clear answer as to why, but the hostess did say that she wanted to make sure the rest of our party was not already seated somewhere else. I thought this was curious, as they do not seat incomplete parties, so why would she have thought the rest of our party would have already been seated?
About ten minutes passed and the rest of our party arrived, and we were told that there was now a ten minute wait. This was frustrating knowing that we could have been seated earlier, and once the time exceeded ten minutes, one of our group had to go up to the hostess counter to inquire as to the delay. I am not sure what he said, but we were seated immediately following.
Our server was very nice and accommodating, however, we ordered an appetizer that came incomplete. Our fish and chips should have had three pieces of fish but only had one. When the waiter realized they error, he did apologize profusely and brought us another appetizer, which made up for the error.
Based on the excellent food and comfortable atmosphere, I would definitely recommend Brewzzi's in City Place and I will return in the future. I will take in to consideration, however, the service inconsistencies and hope they have improved by my next visit.
