Brian Lazanik, Jim Patinson and More Bring the Laughs for a Great Cause

Brian Lazanik was delivering a hilarious barrage of jokes and mayhem in a private banquet hall just around the corner from the Golden Nugget hotel. He wasn't alone. Joining him onstage were some other great comedians including Jim Patinson and Gerry Thompson. Patinson tossed around political anecdotes and made fun of a host of public figures, often drawing comparisons to Looney Toon characters. Thompson appeared the master satirist making you think twice about eating out in public. Lazanik was fantastic relaying valuable information about grandmothers and the homeless.

Brian Lazanik, Jim Patinson and Gerry Thompson were not the only acts to take the stage that evening. In addition to comedians, this event also boasted a magician and ventriloquist, all of whom had come together for a great cause, to raise money in the fight against cystic fibrosis. The evening was filled with laughter and great banter. At times the comedians would share a moment with audience members, often allowing them to become part of the show. More importantly, the feeling of the night was one of great satisfaction that something special had taken place.

Wondering the electric streets it is easy to get caught up in all the lights and majesty of the remarkable oasis known as Las Vegas. On any given evening you may catch a world famous singer-songwriter at the Luxor or bump into a basketball legend at MGM. Lets face it, it is the playground for all those seeking fun and frolic in the middle of the desert. Hardly an evening will go by where, if you are making your best effort, you will even realize the evening has gone by. When the dice are rolling your way and the cards are turning up just right, a well place margarita may be all you ever need again for the perfect evening.

Sin City hardly ever disappoints. A poignant memory included the revolutionary discovery of a beer vendor in old town, dispensing the frothy favorite in giant containers shaped like footballs. These containers were the actual size of footballs. The actual content of each likely held three to four bottles of beer. They were magnificent. The laws in Vegas allow you to tour your favorite sites while consuming your beverage in the streets without a care in the world. The perfect combination of fresh air and hops.

Brian Lazanik, Thompson and the rest of them were a fantastic discovery on a night that had started off without any particular plans except possibly to hit the jackpot at the MGM. That by the way is the most giant facility on the planet. If you sit down to play cards in the MGM and need to get up to get anything, make sure you pack a lunch because you are in for a huge walk. That being said, coming upon such a great even completely by chance, made the evening all the more memorable.

Hopefully, there will be more instances like this one. Ideally, there will be more trips to Vegas and great discoveries to be made. Most importantly, the possibility of great entertainment being joined with a fantastic cause is inspiring. Lazanik and Patinson and all the others are the continuing links between the fun and frivolity that can always be attached to those sentiments that really make all the difference. Even in Sin City.
