Brian Lentz Gets Endorsed by Gen. Paul Eaton for 7th Congressional Seat on 9/20/2010
A Contributor Perspective: Gen. Paul Eaton's Endorsment of Brian Lentz
Springfield, PA 19064
United States of America
As a person who aligns with the Democratic Party, I find that the party often lacks endorsements from decorated military heroes. Given all of the turmoil in Afghanistan and Iraq, I want a candidate to have the support of those who serve. I want to know that if I vote for this person, they will carry out what the citizens want to happen with the wars. As a Democratic voter in Delaware County, this gives me more confidence in Brian Lentz because I respect General Eaton and his endorsement makes me feel like I am using my vote for the right choice.
Even though I feel that this is a wonderful endorsement, the other candidate, Patrick Meehan has already fired back with a statement to discredit the endorsement. The next day after the endorsement, on September 21st, a campaign spokesperson for Meehan said that the endorsement is just another push for the Democratic agenda in Washington. Meehan's campaign spokesperson was quick to point out that General Eaton has supported other liberals in the past and that he is a democrat. The campaign also pointed out the Eaton worked on Hillary Clinton's campaign several years ago. Patrick Meehan campaign basically tried to discredit the endorsement.
Although I feel that the endorsement for Brian Lentz by General Eaton was good for the Lentz campaign, it certainly won't be enough to help him win the election. The race for the 7th congressional seat is a hot one. My neighbors, co-workers and friends have been talking up a storm about it. I think the race is being talked about so much because it is so close. Lentz and Meehan have been neck and neck, and the polls have shown that the race is tight. As a supporter of the Lentz campaign I've seen his spokespeople continually try to get the word out about him. I value the endorsement of General Eaton and I hope it helps to convince people that Brian Lentz is what the seventh district needs to keep change moving!
