Brian St. Pierre to Start for the Carolina Panthers
The Carolina Panthers continue to struggle in John Fox's last season as head coach. Fox who loves veteran players was saddled with three young quarterbacks in Matt Moore and rookies Jimmy Clausen and Tony Pike. When Moore was lost for the season Brian St. Pierre was signed to the practice squad last week. After Jimmy Clausen suffered a concussion St. Pierre is getting the starting nod over Tony Pike.
Brian St. Pierre has completed a whopping 2 of 4 NFL passes for 1 td and 1 int in his 5 year NFL career. The fact that Brian St. Pierre goes from the street to starting for the Panthers in a week shows how bad Carolina really is.
The Panthers have struggled all year after going young and cheap so owner Jerry Richardson can set an example for other NFL teams. Richardson is a key owner in the negotiations with the NFL players to sign a new collective bargaining agreement. Richardson and the owners are crying poor so they can try to get more money and give the players less. As you can see here we may not even have a 2011 NFL season.
John Fox was kept on to keep from paying him AND a new head coach. Despite this the Panthers started rebuilding for the next coach while John Fox pays for it with a bad team. Fox is not blameless as this team underachieved for him in the past and his love for Jake Delhomme cost them some games last season.
Rookie Jimmy Clausen has been a disappointment in his rookie year, but to be fair the whole offense sucks and is possibly the worst in NFL history. That being said Clausen has looked scared and struggles to get his sidearm passes above the line of scrimmage this year.
The other rookie quarterback on the Panthers, Tony Pike saw action in one game when Clausen was injured. Pike completed 6 of 12 passes which are better stats than Brian St. Pierre has in 5 seasons. Pike must really look bad to the coaches for St. Pierre to get the starting nod over him.

Post a CommentWell, St. Pierre wasn't very good, but his stats didn't look any worse than Matt Moore or Jimmy Clausen have been putting up this year. Not sure if that says something good about Brian St. Pierre or something bad about Moore and Clausen (and, really, the rest of the offense).
Good job, Randy, the Panthers need all and any help they can get!
