Brian's Quick Picks for NFL 2009 Week 13

Are You Ready for Some Football?

Brian Short
Due to time restrictions, yours truly is going to keep it short and sweet this week. Let's look at this week's games.

Thursday Night Game

Jets @ Bills- I was really tempted to pick the Bills to win this game after their impressive win against the Dolphins, but the more I thought about it, the more I realized that Miami has a pretty bad pass defense. The Jets should be able to run the ball with Jones and Green. Mark Sanchez must be very careful with the football. Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis versus Bills wide receiver Terrell Owens could decide the winner of this game.

The Winner: The Jets win with defense and a ball-control offense.

Sunday Games

Rams @ Bears- The Rams are a team that competes hard for its coach Steve Spagnuolo. The Bears need to win this game to avoid losing five straight.

The Winner: Bears get back on track with a win on Sunday.

Broncos @ Chiefs- The Broncos have always had a tough time winning in Arrowhead Stadium in the past, however if they want to make the playoffs they have to have this game against a Chiefs squad that will compete to the end.

The Winner: Broncos

Eagles @ Falcons- Michael Vick should be feeling the love in the ATL this Sunday with his return as member of the Philadelphia Eagles. No DeSean Jackson, no Brian Westbrook, no problem for the Eagles.

The Winner: The Eagles by a couple of touchdowns.

Lions @ Bengals- On paper this game appears to be a mismatch. On any given Sunday, any team can win. With that said, I like..................

The Winner: The Bengals

Titans @ Colts- One of these two team's winning streaks is going to come to an end. For the Titans, it's simple-give the ball to Chris Johnson. I expect the Colts to slow him down and make Vince Young beat them with his legs and arm. Peyton should pick apart the Titans weak pass defense.

The Winner: The Colts

Patriots @ Dolphins- If Miami can't run the ball in this game, this one could get out of hand.

The Winner: Patriots bounce back with a win.

Raiders @ Pittsburgh-Raider fans hide the kids for this one. The Steelers will look to take out their frustrations out on a bad Oakland team.

The Winner: The Steelers in a rout.

Saints @ Redskins- I think the Saints are in for a letdown this Sunday. The Redskins really aren't that bad and should keep the game close with their number one pass defense. I see Brees throwing 3-4 interceptions in this game. Brees isn't as sharp on the road. The Saints will have a chance at the end, but will fall short.

The Winner: The Redskins end the Saints win streak and pull out a 28-24 upset victory.

Buccaneers @ Panthers- Here's a scary thought, if Jake Delhomme was Carolina's best quarterback and he was turnover machine, what does that say about backup Matt Moore? Yikes. Tampa Bay must slow down Williams and Stewart on the ground to win this game.

The Winner: Tampa Bay

Texans @ Jaguars- This one should be rather interesting. The Texans need this game after self-destructing the last two weeks at home. The Jaguars are currently holding on the last wild card spot in the AFC. I think the Texans will expose the Jaguars weak pass defense in this game.

The Winner: The Texans

Chargers @ Browns- The only interesting thing about this game is the fact that LaDainian Tomlinson (12,257 yards rushing) has a chance to pass Jim Brown (12,312 yards rushing) on the list for most yards rushing by a running back where Brown played, which happens to be Cleveland. Hmmm, stay tuned.

The Winner: The San Diego Super Chargers

49ers @ Seahawks- The 49ers can get back into the wild card race and division race with a much needed victory against their division foes (and a Cardinals loss). Seattle should look to get the ball to rookie sensation Justin Forsett.

The Winner: The 49ers win a close game.

Cowboys @ Giants- There's no reason why the Cowboys can't avenge their week two loss to the g-men. If the Cowboys want to hold onto their slim division lead, they must compete hard for four quarters and put this team away when the opportunity presents itself.

The Winner: Cowboys

Vikings @ Cardinals- If Kurt Warner plays, the Cardinals have a shot, if he doesn't they will lose. It's looking more likely he won't play on Sunday Night Football.

The Winner: The Vikings

Ravens @ Packers- In my opinion, it always seems to me that the Ravens are always one big play from beating some of the league's better teams and have a better record this year. Joe Flacco has improved as a quarterback as the defense has taken a step back. The Packers can control their own destiny and hold onto to their wild card spot for the playoffs with a win. This should be a great game.

The Winner: I like the Pack in a close game.

Thanks for stopping by. Keep the faith and stay strong. See you back for Week 14.
