Bridal Shower: Activities to Share Memories of the Bride

Kristen May
Bridal showers are wonderful times to come together around a very special bride-to-be and to send her off into her new life that is ahead. One of the best things to do at a bridal shower is to give people the opportunity to share memories they have of the bride over the years. There are a number of activities that you can host to get the memories (and laughs) flowing freely.

Bridal Shower Activity: Who Said It?

One idea for an activity that allows those in attendance to share memories of the bride is to have the bride guess who said each of a number of answers to questions. You will not need many supplies for this game - just a lot of small pieces of paper (3-5 for each guest) and a pen for each guest.

Have everybody sit in a circle, and hand out small sheets of paper to everybody except the bride. Then have them write down on a piece of paper the answer to a question, such as "what was the situation in which you first met the bride?" Then each paper should be placed upside down in the center of the room.

When everybody has their answer in the center, give them all to the bride, who goes through them one at a time, reads them aloud, and tries to decide who gave the answer. She should hand the paper to the person who she suspects said it. If she doesn't know, she can "pass" once and put it on the bottom of her pile, but she has to hand it to somebody the next time it comes up. Once she is done, people who aren't holding their answer can share which one was actually what they said.

Questions can be any of a wide variety, but they should focus on the bride and sharing memories of times with her. Some examples are: What was your first impression of the bride? What was a time when you laughed the hardest together? What is the nicest thing the bride has ever done for you?

Bridal Shower Activity: Future Aspirations Quiz Game

Another fun bridal shower activity that works backwards from the previous is to make a quiz about the bride that all the other guests will have to answer. Before the bridal shower, ask her a number of questions about her future aspirations, particularly as they relate to marriage. They can range anywhere from the number of kids she wants and their names and when she wants the first one, to where she wants to live when she retires, and where she is going on her honeymoon.

Make a printed quiz for each guest, either with fill in the blank lines, or multiple choice answer options if you would like to make it easier. Then give them a few minutes to fill out the quiz to the best of their abilities, and have the bride or the host go over the answers. Whoever got the most questions right will get a prize at the end!
