Holding a wine tasting bridal shower in your home
It is possible to set up a wine tasting bridal shower in your home. Buy different types of wine to taste. You can also have each guest bring a bottle of wine to share with the bridal shower attendees. Get some different cheeses as well (or have some guests bring cheese and others bring wine), to go with the wine. You can also have small pastries and fresh fruit (strawberries go well with champagne) to serve with the wine as well. There are several Web sites that can help you devise great food pairings to go with your wine choices.
You can have elegant decorations and maybe get some wood cutting boards. Use wine glasses for the tasting. All of the attendees can have a little bit from each sample.
Go to a local wine cellar and hold the bridal shower
If you live in an area where there is a wine cellar, call the owner to see if you can hold the bridal shower there. Many cellars offer private tastings, and this could be a great way to have someone else do all the work. If you do not live in an area that has wine cellars, consider calling a local restaurant. Some finer restaurants may be willing to help you put on a wine tasting bridal shower.
Take a wine tour
This can be an especially fun bridal shower idea. This can take all day (or even be an overnight event). In wine regions, there are often many local cellars that you can visits successively. This is true in the Finger Lakes region of New York, as well as in Napa Valley in California. It can be a fun experience to go from cellar to cellar, trying the different offerings from each wine maker.
Themed gifts for a wine tasting bridal shower
If the bridal couple enjoys fine wine and good food, you can request that guests bring themed gifts to the bridal shower. Bottles of wine for the couple (not for the tasting) are great gifts. Wine racks, fancy corkscrews, fine wood cheese slicing sets and similar gifts are great theme gifts for wine connoisseurs.
Also, for a wine tasting bridal shower, there is no need to confine it to women. This is also a great opportunity to include men. A wine tasting makes a great co-ed bridal shower.
