Bridal Shower Menu: Herb Asaigo Cheese Scone

Bridal showers are often the first party adult's host. Besides coordinating decorations, entertainment, inviting guests there is the food to plan. Finding something elegant and easy to serve is a challenge. But the menu I suggest is not. It includes shrimp cocktail with cocktail sauce, fresh fruit salad, Asiago herb scones served with soft butter, a Pomegranatini and assorted chocolate desserts.

This menu is so easy for the shrimp cocktail, fruit salad, and chocolate desserts can be purchased making this party a breeze. To make a heavier meal make a tossed green salad with pre-cut vegetables off the salad bar at the local grocery store and add gourmet soup their as well. But there is no substitute for the fresh taste of homemade Asiago Herb Scones and Pomegrantinis . So see below for the Asaigo Herb Scone Recipe and how to make a Pomegranatini:

Easy Asiago Herb Scones (number of servings depends on size of scones)

Ingredients

2 T Melted butter
2 c Self-rising flour
1 ½ t Salt
¾ c Fresh grated Asiago cheese
½ c Milk
½ c Water
¼ t Black cracked pepper
¼ t Rosemary

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Place a piece of parchment paper on a large cookie sheet.
  3. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  4. Gently combine melted butter, flour, salt, ½ c. cheese (reserve a ¼ c of cheese), black cracked pepper and rosemary.
  5. Add water until dough begins to stick together.
  6. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface until smooth.
  7. Press the dough out until it is about ¾ of an inch in thickness. (Don't roll dough; the goal is to handle the dough as little as possible).
  8. Cut the dough out with a floured round cookie cutter (I like to use a biscuit cutter).
  9. Place the rounds of dough on the tray.
  10. Bake in preheated oven for 6 minutes; remove from other and sprinkle the scones with the ¼ c of reserved cheese.
  11. Return to the oven for 4-6 minutes more of baking.

A Pitcher of Pomegranatinis (serves 16)

Ingredients:

4 c Pomegranate Juice
4 c Orange liqueur
4 c vodka
16 cups crushed ice
16 garnishes (assorted wedges of citrus fruits lemon, lime, or orange)

Instructions:

1. Pour vodka, orange liqueur, & pomegranate juice in a pitcher with a fitted lid which has a strainer in it

2. Add crushed ice

3. Shake vigorously

Serve with a variety of garnishes

*tip - on a very hot day blenderize all ingredients, increase ice until a slushy consistency is formed and serve as a Frozen Pomegranatini.
