Bridesmaid Dress Trends for Spring 2011

Jody Morse
Choosing the right bridesmaid dresses is almost as important as choosing the right wedding dress, as it gives guests an idea of your own personal style. It is important to take many factors, such as the style of your wedding dress and the theme or color scheme of your wedding, into consideration when choosing dresses for your bridal party. Here are some of the popular spring 2011 bridesmaid dress trends to take note of.

Trend #1: Sashes

Bridesmaid dresses with sashes will be a popular trend this wedding season. As color-trimmed wedding dresses will be popular once again, many brides may try to incorporate the color of their own gown with their bridesmaid dresses. Check out this chiffon cocktail length bridesmaid dress from Alfred Angelo, which has optional spaghetti straps and is available in 55 colors.

Trend #2: Mix and Match

Mix and match bridesmaid dresses have been popular for a few years now. This is one of the spring 2011 bridesmaid dress trends which seems as though it will stick around for quite awhile. The idea behind this trend is that you select bridesmaid dresses in the same color, but in a different style. One of the dresses may be strapless, while another may be in a halter style. Some of the dresses may be short, and others may be long. If your bridesmaids all have different body types, this can be an ideal bridesmaid dress trend to consider.

Trend #3: Off the Shoulder

Asymmetrical is one of the biggest trends for the upcoming wedding season. Thus, it is not surprising that off the shoulder will be one of the most popular spring 2011 bridesmaid dress trends. Off the shoulder bridesmaid dresses tend to be long and flowing. Be sure to consider this beautiful chiffon with satin detail dress from the spring 2011 wedding collection at Jordan Fashions.

Trend #4: Wear Again Looks

Due to the economy, it's likely that one or more of your bridesmaids will be on a budget. Why not choose a bridesmaid dress that they can wear again? Consider cocktail length styles, as they are often suitable for other occasions. This short cotton sateen spaghetti strap dress from David's Bridal can be an ideal option.

Before deciding on one of the spring 2011 bridesmaid dress trends, it is important to choose the dress style which is most appropriate for your bridal party. Not only is it important to consider your bridesmaids' body types, but it is important to take the theme and color scheme of your wedding into consideration as well.

These are good ideas. I was a bridesmaid when I was 11. There were 3 other bridesmaids, one who was younger than me and the other two were in their 20s. Us girls wore matching dresses that were suitable for our ages and the women also wore identical dresses that had more of a grownup look to them.
