Consider what the weather will be like before choosing your bridesmaid dresses for your beach wedding. You don't want to make your bridesmaid wear a heavy fabric like velvet when the weather is going to be hot and sunny. If you want your bridesmaids to be a little more covered up for the wedding even when it is warm outside, consider purchasing wraps or scarves for the girls to wrap around themselves for the wedding and can later take off for the reception.
Try to stay away from long bridesmaid dresses that will hang in the sand. Truthfully, no bridesmaid is going to want to go home with half of the beach still on the bottom of their dress or have to worry about tripping on their dress when walking through the sand. For a beach wedding try to choose bridesmaid dresses that are tea-length (mid-calf) or right under the knee. These dresses are still appropriate for weddings but are not as fussy as ankle-length dresses are. On the other hand, you don't want to have your bridesmaids wear min-dresses to the wedding. Consider also that the beach may be windy and you don't want one of your bridesmaids to be embarrassed by a dress that is too flowy and may cause a wardrobe malfunction.
Most beach weddings are more casual than weddings held at churches or indoors. You don't want your bridesmaids to feel over-dresses at your wedding, so think about getting more casual bridesmaid dresses. Think about a plain strapless dress or even a simple sundress. You don't have to shop at a wedding dress store to find bridesmaid dresses. Check out your local department stores for cute summer dresses that all the bridesmaids can wear.
Lastly, stick with colors that fit your beach wedding for the bridesmaid dresses. This may include light blue, pink, turquoise, yellow, green, and purple. You don't want harsh colors that don't fit in like dark red, brown, or all black. When you think of beach weddings you want to see colors that reflect nature and the beauty of the scenery.

Post a Commenta beach wedding would be way cool!
Thanks, very helpful! I think tea length is the way to go, and it's a good point about wind and flowy things. I've seen some on
http://www.gatheringguide.com/ec/bridal_shops_dresses.html that seem to fit all the requirements here and I think I'm going to get some for my bridesmaids in sea green (my colors are sea green and purple, but dark purple for the sashes). Thanks!
I think any colors would be fine, but I agree about the material and length

wow this was super!!!!
Excellent tips for a beach wedding!
I was 16 when I wore a cute & casual denim dress that fell to just below my knees for my sister's wedding. The groom wore jeans, and the bride, while beautiful in her classic white dress, was barefoot. Awesome wedding!
