Bridgestone GC Oversize Iron Review

Well finally, here it is. After all the reviews of Bridgestones "players" products I am finally getting to my review of their mid priced, mid handicapper clubs. Bear with me here, it's been months or even just over a year since I did this rigorous testing and it is taking me time to put my notes together, then to simplify them for the masses. I do not want to bore people with the minute details. Just a good players thoughts on my likes and dislikes about each club I test and from there those interested can give them a try for themselves. Now, back to the clubs! Bridgestone is making very good efforts for the average player to not only be able to hit their equipment, but afford their equipment as well!

The Bridgestone GC Oversize irons are a very basic set of oversize, stainless steel irons with some modern improvements. Like their GC (Gravity Chamber) hybrids the designers at Bridgestone Golf decided to take some weight out of the rear of the club to distribute it around the perimeter. This makes these irons very forgiving on off center hits. They feature a slightly wider sole than their mid size brother to help prevent digging and overall this set is just a little longer in my opinion. It is very easy to get the ball in the air with this set, and the stock Nippon shafts feel very good and are not as cheap as steel shafts other companies would put in their mid priced line.

When I got the chance to hit these irons I figured they would be a basic over size iron that I would be able to hit high, long, and straight. Thats exactly what they do too! Working the ball is almost out of the question with this set, but that is not what they are designed to do. They look good for a larger club, they feel pretty good too for a cast iron. Miss hits were not too bad with this set and fat shots very, very hard to do because of the wide sole. I picked up a few yards with this set over the mid size model I will be writing about next. This is due to the weight toward the bottom of the club giving me a little more carry than the mid size set.

If you are looking to put some Bridgestone clubs in your bag and are just getting started or are a recreational player, I would suggest the GC Oversize irons. You will really feel and see the difference over the set you are playing now.
