The Bridgestone J33 Fairway Woods feature as with the rest of their lineup, a very clean and classic look. A pear shaped head with a black paint finish makes this fairway wood almost too good to hit! It features a semi shallow, square club head made of 17-4 stainless steel. The shafts are Golf Pride Tour Velvets and the shaft is the Aldila NV, although many custom shaft options are available. Like the driver, the fairway woods feature a rubber compound in the rear of the club head to reduce distance robbing vibrations at impact. The club is completed by adding tungsten weights to the bottom of the club for better playability and optimal ball flight.
The only thing I did not like about this club is that I did not try one sooner! I've hit many fairway woods over the past 2 years to review and this is by far the best I have hit to date. It not only goes long and straight, but very high and is extremely workable. I was able to hit it high enough to land on some of the tightest pins and low enough to keep it out of the strongest of winds. There is not much margin for error with this club, but the mis hits were not fatal by any means. It found the fairway with a little more distance loss than other fairway woods I have tried. The real difference is when you hit it square, oh boy! It goes forever on a nice high line, and the high ball flight works with both draws and fades. I could place the ball anywhere I wanted to from the fairway and off a tee.
Just like the rest of Bridgestone Golfs products over the past couple of years, this one needs to be hit to be appreciated!
