Bridgestone J33 R 460cc Driver Review

The past couple of reviews on Bridgestone Golf products must be sounding very similar. Clean, classic, high performing golf equipment for the better player. Well, that's because it's all true, and they live up to their billing! I'll get to their equipment for the average player in the next few posts; I simply want to get their best equipment up here so people know just how good these clubs really are! The next couple of reviews will be on their driver, fairway woods and hybrids.

The Bridgestone J33 R 460cc Driver is another great club from Bridgestone Golf. It's a modern classic as some would say. It features a large 460cc head with a classic pear shape. The 460cc head is the maximum allowable size as governed by the USGA. This does more than just make a larger hitting area however; the internal weighting is what makes this club great. The ability to move the weight towards low and rear ends of the driver makes this club not only easy to square up, but very easy to launch high into the air. What you get is a great looking driver, that functions even better. The use of rubber, yes rubber in the rear of the club head allows the elimination of unwanted and distance robbing vibrations for longer, higher drivers.

I was able to hit a few dozen balls with this club over the fall and really enjoyed my time spent hitting this club. The look was incredible. The feel was even better. I was able to work the ball however I wanted to with this club and at the same time able to keep the ball in the fairway on off center hits. The thing I liked most about this driver was its square face! You do not see many larger drivers with a square face angle! This further allowed me to work the ball however I wanted and just went miles down the fairway! The shaft was a little long for me; I prefer 44.5" for anyone hitting a driver. It really gives you more control and typically more distance because you will be able to square the club face up for more solid strikes. Overall this was is a great club that will stand up to anything else you have tried in the past 12 months.

Go ahead and give this beast a try, It may be in your bag for 2008!
